For every £1 you give to Friends of Delapre Abbey, we can claim an extra 28p from the Inland Revenue.
This means if you make a donation of £10, it will actually be worth £12.80 to Friends of Delapre Abbey, without costing you anything more than £10.
You can help us claim this extra gift by ticking in the Gift Aid box whenever you are making a donation or renewing your membership.
How do we claim your Gift Aid?
If you pay tax in the UK then you can donate to us under the Gift Aid scheme. This allows us to reclaim the tax element of your donation - currently 28p for every £1 you donate. You must have paid at least the same amount in tax as we reclaim.
For us to claim your Gift Aid, you must be a UK taxpayer, this means you will be paying the Inland Revenue tax, from either of the following:
- the money that you earn
- the savings that you have
- the benefits or pension that you receive
Benefits to higher-rate taxpayers
If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can reclaim tax relief on your gross donation at 18% (eg the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate at 22%).
For example, if you give £100 we can reclaim an extra £28.21 for the charity and you can reclaim another £23.08. As a result, a £100 gift worth £128.21 to your favourite charity only costs you £76.92.
What if I am not a UK taxpayer?
The Gift Aid scheme is unique to the UK. If you are not a UK taxpayer, you can still make a donation, but your donation will not attract the 28% tax 'bonus'.
